Vaccines for Children

Timely vaccination is important for children to stay healthy and active. Vaccination rates have declined in North Dakota, leaving many people vulnerable to vaccine-preventable diseases. For some children who do not have access to health insurance, the cost of immunizations may feel overwhelming for their families. However, did you know that eligible children can receive vaccines at little to no cost through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program? There are over 190 health care facilities throughout North Dakota that participate in the VFC program, making immunization not only accessible but affordable.

A child is eligible for the VFC Program if they are younger than 19 years of age and:

• Medicaid-eligible
• Uninsured
• Underinsured (has health insurance but plan does not cover vaccines)
• American Indian or Alaska Native
