I’m Neil Charvat, director of the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program for the North Dakota Department of Health. The World Health Organization promotes the observance of World No Tobacco Day on May 31st, 2022. World No Tobacco Day promotes international awareness of the over eight million people worldwide that die annually from tobacco use, including 1000 North Dakotans. Quitting tobacco is the most important thing you could do to improve your health. There are many reasons available to help tobacco users quit, including assistance from healthcare providers or by contacting NDQuits by phone at 1-800-quitnow, or on the web at ndhealth.gov/ndquits. Join us in celebrating World No Tobacco Day on May 31st and the Third Annual North Dakota Tobacco Quit week from June 12th to the 18th. Regardless of the day, any day is a good day to quit tobacco.
