Hi, my name is Sarah Weninger. I’m the hepatitis prevention coordinator with the State Health department. July 28th is World Hepatitis Day. There are nearly 330 million people worldwide living with either chronic hepatitis B or C. Public health officials are working towards eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat. There are two easy strategies that will help eliminate viral hepatitis. One is hepatitis B vaccination. Everyone through age 59 should be vaccinated for hepatitis B. And also, every adult ages 18 and over should be tested for hepatitis C infection. I encourage you to schedule your appointment with your local health department or your primary care provider to get vaccinated for hepatitis B and tested for hepatitis C today.
