This is KNOWTIFY. Take a minute for your health.

Hi. I’m Mary Weltz. November is National Family Caregiver month, which is a time to honor the more than 68,000 North Dakotans who are caring for their aging or disabled loved ones. We’re fortunate that we have several services to support these unpaid family caregivers, and one is the National Family Caregiver Support Program. We support eligible caregivers regardless of their income or assets. We have great staff across the state, who are trained in supporting these family caregivers.

One of the main things caregivers say they need is just a break or respite care. Eligible caregivers may be provided the funding to pay an approved provider or a family member to stay with their loved one so that they can get that break. It’s okay to ask for help. Caregivers need to take care of themselves so they can continue to care for their loved one. If you are a caregiver or know someone who is a caregiver, please call the agent in Disability Resource or learn more at Care Choice ND.
