Hi there. This is Hannah Hanson and I am the men’s health coordinator at the North Dakota Department of Health. I’m here with you today to celebrate men’s health month, and to encourage both men and women alike to use this month as an opportunity to prioritize the health of North Dakota men.

One of the best things you can do to take an active role in your health is to make an appointment with a healthcare provider to ensure that you’re up to date on all recommended screenings.

Another important health behavior is to get active. The weather’s warming up, and it’s a great excuse to get outside and to incorporate more physical activity into your daily life, while of course, remembering to wear insect repellent and sunscreen. Healthy eating and minimizing alcohol consumption and tobacco use are additional important steps for better health.

This month also provides a great opportunity to talk to younger boys and men to promote healthy, physical, mental, and social habits from a young age so that they can practice them as lifelong actions because healthy behavior shouldn’t be limited to the month of June. They should be implemented all year long and throughout your life.
