Hi, my name is Danni Pinnick. I’m the immunization surveillance coordinator with the North Dakota Department of Health. I’m here today to talk about back to school immunizations for your child. Back to school is right around the corner, so we wanted to make sure to remind parents of immunization requirements for school. Before kindergarten, your child should be immunized against nine different diseases. These include diphtheria, pertussis, or whooping cough, tetanus, hepatitis B, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox.

Prior to seventh grade, your child will also receive vaccines to prevent bacterial meningitis and to boost their tetanus and whooping cough vaccine. Before, 11th grader child will receive an additional dose of meningitis vaccine. There are other vaccines that may be recommended by your doctor. I encourage you to check with your child’s doctor or your local public health department.
